69 Love Songs was performed in its entirety, over two nights, on seven occasions. On some of these occasions the songs were performed by the full ‘extended’ band including guest singers and instrumentalists. These performances were:

- 2000-06-09/10, Great American Music Hall, San Francisco (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus Daniel Handler)
- 2000-12-07/08, Somerville Theater, Boston (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus full cast except Chris Ewen)
- 2001-01-17/18 and 19/20, Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus full cast except Chris Ewen)

A planned two-night performance at the Los Angeles Knitting Factory in 2000-06 was cancelled as the opening of the venue was delayed.
