69 Love Songs was performed in its entirety, over two nights, on seven occasions. On some of these occasions the songs were performed by the full ‘extended’ band including guest singers and instrumentalists. These performances were:
  • 1999-09-09/10, Knitting Factory, New York (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus full cast except Chris Ewen)
  • 2000-05-26/27, Old Town School, Chicago (performed by The Magnetic Fields only)
  • 2000-06-09/10, Great American Music Hall, San Francisco (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus Daniel Handler)
  • 2000-12-07/08, Somerville Theater, Boston (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus full cast except Chris Ewen)
  • 2001-01-17/18 and 19/20, Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus full cast except Chris Ewen)
  • 2002-03-01/02 Alice Tully Hall, New York (performed by The Magnetic Fields plus full cast). See [photos of this show] from The Magnetic Fields' official web site.

A planned two-night performance at the Los Angeles Knitting Factory in 2000-06 was cancelled as the opening of the venue was delayed.

The following reviews cover some of these performances and other live shows during the period 1999-2002 when 69 Love Songs was the most recent release by The Magnetic Fields. (Dates given are publication dates, not show dates.)
